Building development

2010 is an important year for St Michael’s. In March, we begin replanting soft areas at the front of the church; later in the summer, a certain amount of hard landscaping will be introduced, subject to planning permission. In May, disability access work will begin, providing ramped access to the hall, and a large toilet, shower and baby changing room. Also scheduled for the summer: the murals and the rest of the church interior will be cleaned and restored (the ceiling dome having been repainted in early March). In the autumn, three sets of glass doors will be installed at the front entrance of the church. These and other works will enable St Michael’s to celebrate its 50th anniversary year (2011) with style.

Monthly teenage group

A monthly teenage group meets after the Parish Eucharist on the last Sunday of every month, from 11.30 am – 1.15 pm. At the next session, on 28th March, we will have pasta and watch a DVD film about the events of Holy Week and Easter. Open to young people from Year 6 upwards.

Rainbow Guides

Rainbow Guides has returned to St Michael’s, and is open Wednesdays in term time from 6.00 pm to 7. 00 pm in the meeting room. Rachael Curzons is the leader, and she is assisted by Janette Goss. The Unit is open to girls aged 5 to 7 years; weekly subscription £1, to cover equipment, Girlguiding UK insurance, etc.

Evening Prayer

A quiet service of evening prayer takes place from 7.00 – 8.00 pm on the last Sunday of each month. The next service, on 28th March, will vary pattern. Stations of the Cross will be offered in the church, as we begin Holy Week.

Angel Voices

Tunes for toddlers: Tuesdays in term time from 9.45 – 10.30 am in church. There is no charge but a donation towards costs is welcome.

Prayer and reflection in Lent

During Lent there will be an extended service of Compline in the chapel at 7.30 pm each Thursday from 25th February - 25th March. The service will last an hour and will include readings, psalms, simple chants and plenty of time for prayer – both spoken and silent.

Palm Sunday Eucharist

We begin the journey through Holy Week, by celebrating Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem
The service starts on London Fields with the Blessing of Palms and a Procession to the church, where we continue with the Parish Eucharist
