Vicar

The Revd. Daniel Gerrans
After 9 months without a parish priest, on 4 July Daniel was ‘instituted’ as St Michael’s new Vicar by Bishop Pete Broadbent at a service attended by more than 240 people. Daniel worked as a Barrister for more than 20 years before being ordained in 2005. He then worked as a curate at another Hackney parish, while initially continuing with his legal practice and then, from 2007, working with the Bishop of Stepney as his Chaplain and Personal Assistant. Daniel is married to Katherine, a practice nurse and clinical mentor working in Tower Hamlets. They have three young adult children.

Licensed Lay Minister

Dave has been licensed as a Reader since 2002. Recently he chose to be called a Licensed Lay Minister because he felt that it best describes his role as a Lay Minister in the Church of England, a role that includes being a Chaplain to Scouts and Guides in the East End, and preaching at other churches within the Christian Communion, Methodists and Congregationists to name only two. He has been married to Sue, who fully supports his Ministry, for almost forty years, and they have two grown up sons and two delightful Grandsons. He recalls the words from Samuel as paramount to his realisation that God was calling him to Lay Ministry. Dave said, ‘I was a roof and gutters man……preaching was never part of my Christian ministry, but like the parable of the loaves and fishes…Jesus takes our painfully inadequate offering, blesses it and it just multiplies…far outstripping our expectations!!’
