Adult Education

The Christian life is a journey, and St Michael’s seeks to encourage growth in faith of all its members, adults as well as children. We support adults who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding in a variety of ways:

  • A one-day or weekend retreat is arranged each year.
  • Daily Bible reading notes are available.
  • We have a small lending library of books exploring spirituality and theology.
  • At least one evening and one afternoon series of discussion groups or taught courses are held each term. We recently held a series on the History of the Early Church, and another on Understanding Islam. Discussion groups have included: ‘Images of God’, and an exploration of monastic spirituality. In summer 2008 we ran an adapted Open Door Retreat. A fuller version be run in 2009.
  • Adult confirmation classes are once a year. To enrol for this year’s course, please download the information sheets and return the third page to Alan by 14th September.
  • The church is developing an introductory course to Christianity for ‘enquirers’. This will be available by summer 2009.

For further information about any of these activities, please contact Janet.
